词源etymology
一般解作 vellum（犊皮纸，旧书的皮）＋ ichor（神血）——照着 petrichor 的模子铸的： 那边是石头里渗出的神血，这边是旧纸页里渗出的。 本站的 petrichor 词条，正好是它的模具。
Usually parsed as vellum (the hide of old books) + ichor (the blood of the gods) — cast from petrichor’s mold: there, ichor seeping out of stone; here, out of old paper. This trove’s petrichor entry happens to be the die it was struck from.

It is one of the few DOS coinages the dictionary trade has caught in earnest: the British lexicographer Susie Dent has quoted it publicly with her own gloss — “the magical, distinctive smell of old books.” Not yet in a dictionary, but already in a lexicographer’s mouth.
